Electronic Arts (EA) and Codemasters have announced the new iteration of the official Formula 1 game. The second game to be released since the acquisition of Codemasters by EA, it adopts the nomenclature of EA sports games and becomes F1 22.
After a year 2021 marked by a game not very rich in content, notably not having the official circuits as a whole nor the Sprint races, F1 22 is catching up and will offer all the cars and circuits of the 2022 season, including the Miami Grand Prix. Abu Dhabi, Barcelona and Melbourne are also updated.
The latter will also be the theme of a special edition of the game, called Champions. Sprint races will therefore be included in the rounds of Imola, Red Bull Ring and Interlagos, as in reality.
“We look forward to introducing our players to the new era of Formula 1” said Lee Mather, Creative Director for F1 at Codemasters.
“In addition to the real-world changes, we’ve updated the physics to take into account new aero rules and reworked the tire pattern, making the handling more true to reality.”
“With new and updated circuits, adaptive AI, F1 Life and expanded gameplay options, it’s the perfect time for players to get in their seats and experience the life of a true F1 driver.”
The arrival of VR and a new F1 Life mode
F1 22 will finally benefit from VR, for better immersion. It will also be possible to use two options to configure the day of the race in a Grand Prix weekend.
The Broadcast mode will give pride of place to cinematics to integrate the player into the action and behind the scenes of a Grand Prix. The Immersive option will offer challenges related to pit stops or Safety Cars, with the possibility of additional winnings.
Finally, the all-new F1 Life mode will act as a social hub, in which it will be possible to display supercars and objects won by completing challenges, or purchased in the Podium Pass, the game’s season pass.
My Team Mode and Career Mode Return
My Team mode also returns for the third consecutive edition. He will offer the possibility of starting his season with a more or less large budget, for an additional difficulty.
The career mode, the most classic of the series of F1 games, also returns with a cooperative option, like last year. The multiplayer mode will also be there.
Additionally, F1 22 includes an adaptive AI that will allow players to see the level of virtual solo competitors adapt to the results. The game will be released on July 1 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC.
