Bernie Ecclestone has hit back at seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who calls for no more media platforms for former F1 people who make out-of-time remarks.
The 91-year-old, who defended Putin and Piquet in the same interview, believes Hamilton needs to stop with “his moralizing bullshit” and the suggestion that he was too old to have a meaningful opinion was “terribly rude”.
“Yeah, maybe I’m not sensitive enough,” said Ecclestone yesterday to his friend Roger Benoit, correspondent for the Blick.
“I see a lot of things differently, and I say them because I was kindly asked.”
“But I stand by one statement – Putin has always been fair to Formula 1. And I can’t say that regarding all promoters.”
As for Hamilton’s charge, Ecclestone advised the Mercedes driver to think more carefully the next time he launches an attack.
“Lewis forgot a lot of things… When Mercedes didn’t want to pay what they were asking for, I immediately said I would pay the difference (sic). Because Formula 1 needs a person of color, a Chinese man and a woman.”
