With this victory, Verstappen became the second driver to win the Japanese race three times in a row, following retired German Michael Schumacher, former seven-time world champion.
The 26-year-old Dutch driver strengthened his position at the top of the drivers’ standings, 13 points ahead of his closest competitor, Perez.
Red Bull leads the manufacturers’ list with 141 points, followed by Ferrari with 120 points and McLaren, which has 69 points.
