Formula 1 wants big money!

The media company Liberty Media, which has owned the Formula One Group since 2017, is planning to conquer the American market in particular. With the Netflix series “Drive to Survive”, Formula 1 has already triggered a first, smaller wave of enthusiasm in the USA.

As “ESPN” reported, an average of 1.2 million US viewers watched the Formula 1 races. A new viewer record, which is why ESPN extended the TV deal with the motorsport premier class until 2025.

With three races in the land of opportunity, the popularity of the world’s most famous racing series should be further increased in the USA!

Last season, drivers already raced along tracks in Austin and Miami. In the coming year, the cracker race in Las Vegas will also be added.

For the first time in over 40 years, a race will take place in “Sin City”. Formula 1 wants to organize the race weekend itself. Formula 1 usually plans the races together with local organizers and takes entry fees.

In Las Vegas, the capital of gambling, Formula 1 really wants to win!

As the “Financial Times” reports, Liberty Media has acquired a 16-hectare property for around 240 million dollars on which the Las Vegas Grand Prix is to take place in the future.

According to the report, the organizers also want to put a similar sum into the track and pit lane. The investments are to be financed primarily through ticket sales. For the Grand Prix in the desert city, the ticket prices should be between 500 and 15,000 US dollars.

Ticket sales and various sponsorship deals are expected to bring sales to around 500 million euros at the end of the race weekend. If Liberty Media went it alone, the money would belong solely to the US company.
