Simon Cowell’s other talent search event, The X Factor is back in the spotlight. This time, it’s not demanding Simon to withdraw from the program, but a confession from a former participant who had been a victim of rape.

This happened to Lucy Spraggan, a participant from The X Factor UK in 2012. At that time, he was one of the superiors in the singing contest, but he chose to withdraw citing illness.

Now it has just been revealed that this reason was deliberately made by him to cover up the trauma that befell the 31-year-old woman. In his interview with The Guardian, he admitted that he experienced bad things that left such an impression on his life because he was the victim of the rape of a hotel clerk.

Lucy was only 20 years old at the time of the incident and was very ambitious to pursue her goal of becoming a professional singer. Unfortunately, on a night where he and several of the X-Factor crew and other participants celebrated the birthday of one of the participants, Rylan Clark, at a club in London, that dream was taken away.

The happy night with his new friends at the competition made him very drunk. He was escorted by the production team to the hotel and then assisted by a porter to be delivered to his room. After that the porter even perform immoral action.

“I never thought that I would experience this level of confusion. I knew I had been raped, but I still mightn’t process it. So I put my clothes back on and went regarding my normal activities,” she said.

Lucy Spraggan was still continuing filming with The X Factor and reported this incident to the crew. He also admitted that he was still not ready to accept the fact that he had become a victim of rape at that time, even when the perpetrator was caught by the police.

After he realized exactly what had happened to him, his mental breakdown. He also blamed The X Factor for not taking good care of him.

“Lucy thinks we might be able to do better, we have to be aware of this. For everything that Lucy went through, we apologize. Since that incident, we have tried our best to learn from it and increase the protection of all our talents,” said a source from Fremantle, the production team of X-Factor.

Meanwhile Simon Cowell also said that what happened to Lucy Spraggan was something so bad and it broke her heart.

“When I was given the opportunity to talk to Lucy, I personally apologized for what she had been through. Lucy is one of the (participants) who has her own characteristics, is talented and a brave person,” he concluded.

At the event, Lucy performed her single, Last Night, and got tickets to bootcamp. Unfortunately, when performing Moves Like Jagger on the next stage, his performance was messed up and he was given the opportunity to perform another song.

He also chose Tea and Toast which is also his song and finally passed to the live show round. In the 5th week, Lucy admitted that she was sick and might not continue the struggle there, even though she had escaped, Lucy felt that it was unfair with her comrades-in-arms.
