According to the radio station Radio Pichincha, which cites sources close to the Citizen Revolution movementto which Glas belongs, the politician would have been transferred to Military Hospitalin Guayaquil, due to the consumption of a drug overdose in a suicide attempt.
The digital media Primicias also reported that Glas would have been declared in a medical comaaccording to a police report on the causes of the bankruptcy due to the “ingestion of anxiolytic, antidepressant and sedative medications.”
Likewise, it has been warned that the former vice president and ally of former president Rafael Correa (2007-2017) would have been stabilized in the medical unit to which he was transferred.
For now, No Ecuadorian authority has confirmed or denied the information.despite multiple requests from the press for an official version of the alleged suicide attempt.

Former President Correa, who resides in Belgium, commented on his X network account regarding Glas’s alleged transfer to a hospital and wrote: “It was what I feared. The scoundrels will jump for joy. Strength, Jorge!”.

Glas was arrested last Friday following a violent raid by police at the Mexican Embassy in Quito and finally transferred to a maximum security prison, known as La Roca, in the coastal city of Guayaquil.
The Ecuadorian police operation at the Mexican diplomatic legation led to the breaking of diplomatic relations between both countries and led the Organization of American States (OAS) to review the case.

“Complex” situation
