Bengaluru ∙ Former Vice Chief of Indian Navy Retd.Vice Admiral PJ Jacob (Rajan-82) passed away at his residence on Sarjapura Road. He is a family member in Chatannoor Valiyaveetil. Funeral on 25th at Kalpally Cemetery following Mass at St. Gregorios Orthodox Cathedral, Hosur Road.

He became the Vice Chief of Navy on March 31, 1998 and retired on February 28, 2001. He has served as the former Director General of the Indian Coast Guard and as a member of the Prime Minister’s National Security Advisory Council. Jacob has made many contributions in the field of maritime security and has led delegations for strategic agreements with various countries on behalf of the Ministry of Defense and the Navy.

He has been honored by the country with Param Vishishta Seva Medal, Ati Vishishta Seva Medal, Vishishta Seva Medal etc. After retirement, he served as a member of the Board of Directors of TVS and as a Director of Sundaram Clayton Limited and Dua Consulting. His wife is Salga, a member of the Talavadi Kalam family. Children: Captain Vivek Jacob (Merchant Navy), Adv. Deepak Eepan Jacob. Daughter-in-law: Anjana and Leenika.
