Two sources at a military hospital in the Sudanese capital said that former President Omar al-Bashir was transferred from prison to a military hospital before the fighting in Sudan began.
The information comes following reports that inmates at Kober Prison had escaped earlier this week, and Bashir and his senior deputies were among those held in this prison.
Ahmed Haroun, a former Sudanese official in Omar al-Bashir’s regime, said that he had left Kober prison with other former officials, and that they would provide protection for themselves.
Haroun, a leader of the dissolved National Congress Party and wanted by the International Criminal Court, added in an audio statement broadcast by “Taybeh” TV channel, on Tuesday, that he and other former officials are ready to appear before the judiciary when he plays his role.
He added that “preserving the nation’s entity takes precedence over any partisan or political project,” calling on the Sudanese to support the armed forces, and called on members of the Rapid Support Forces to “engage with their brothers in the army.”
According to “Sky News Arabia” sources, leaders of the Bashir regime have been released from Kober prison, including Haroun, Ali Othman Muhammad Taha and Awad Ahmed al-Jaz.
Controversy increased regarding the fate of the ousted president, Omar al-Bashir, following allegations that he was transferred by helicopter from Alia Hospital in Omdurman, in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, to an unknown destination.
While analysts ruled out the existence of any value for Bashir in the current equation in Sudan, which has been in a fierce war for more than 10 days between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, others believe that it may have turned into a card in the hands of some parties.
For 10 days, the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, has been living in a state of chaos and security chaos due to the continuous violent clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, which have disrupted public life throughout the country and led to complete paralysis in the civil service and markets.
