An argument between a policeman and a civilian turned tragic in Thiès. Chief Brigadier Hamdy Samb was seriously injured last Saturday night around 11 p.m., at Place de France. Admitted to intensive care at the regional hospital in the capital of Rail, the agent of the local DST branch succumbed to his injuries last Monday, according to sources from Seneweb. Referred, the alleged murderer was charged and placed under a warrant of committal yesterday Tuesday.
A police officer was killed in Thiès, following an argument. It all started when the brigadier/-chief saw a young man uniting on the public highway.
In the meantime, the sleuth in service at the DST office in Thiès arrested SI Sall on his act of incivility. What did not please the latter. Bittersweet exchanges of remarks were exchanged, followed by an altercation during which the chief brigadier (retired, but enjoying two years of additional service) collapsed after receiving a blow.
Despite everything, the young man in his twenties did not let go. He went after the face of the bloodhound with a large stone, according to testimonies collected by Seneweb.
The respondent was arrested by elements of the 1st arrondissement police station, then made available to the police at the Nguinth station.
The injured policeman was evacuated to the regional hospital of Thiès where he was admitted to intensive care, while an investigation was opened by the men of Lieutenant Ibrahima Guèye.
Unfortunately Hamdy Samb succumbed to his injuries last Monday.
The confessions of the former student
The alleged murderer admitted to having administered mortal blows to Hamdy Samb. Gesture he regretted, while seeking clemency from justice. The former student said he acted out of anger during his first interrogation, before changing his version.
“I was a drug and alcohol user in 2018. I am currently under the influence of evil spirits who control all my actions”, he tried to justify his act on the minutes.
The father of the murderer on PV: “My son had taken a Wird”
Heard as a witness, the father of the alleged murderer, A. Sall, declared that his son does not enjoy all his mental faculties. According to him, this former UVS student had taken a Wird and made incantations. “SI Sall told me one day that he is going to take a Wird. He told me not to worry when I see strange behavior on him”, confesses the father residing in Pout. The alleged murderer charged and placed under arrest warrant
After a hectic police custody, SI Sall was presented yesterday Tuesday to the public prosecutor at the high court of Thiès. But the head of the prosecution, Cheikh Dieng, opened a judicial investigation before requesting the warrant of committal against him. The investigating magistrate in charge of the case followed the representative of the public prosecutor’s office in his indictment.
Since then, SI Sall has been sleeping in the central prison of Thiès.
