Domenico Puddu, a 70-year-old man, was given a life sentence by the Assize Court of Hainaut for the murder of Jean-Yves Wargnies, threatening Christophe Bertelli, and carrying a weapon. Jean-Yves Wargnies, a 46-year-old prominent figure in Charleroi, was shot twice and killed by his neighbor while working on the roof of his home on Rue du Congo in Marchienne-au-Pont. The assailant complained regarding the noise caused by the victim.

Domenico Puddu, a former Caterpillar employee, had resided on the same street since the early 2000s. He had previously experienced multiple problems with his previous neighbors in Manage, which resulted in him being sentenced and deprived of his liberty.

Jean-Yves Wargnies had purchased an old shed in September 2015 and planned to convert it into a loft for tourists. A conflict arose in September 2016 when Domenico warned Jean-Yves that he had a weapon and mimicked a shooting with his hand, leading to a complaint being filed by Jean-Yves.

On December 30, 2019, Domenico Puddu shot Jean-Yves Wargnies with a weapon due to noise from the grinder being used by him. Jean-Yves was shot in the buttock and later in the head, leading to his death four days followingward.

Domenico Puddu can’t stand the shrill noise of the grinder. He takes a weapon, goes to his neighbor and shoots in the direction of Jean-Yves.

Hit in the right buttock, he called for help. He jumps off the roof and runs down the street. Domenico, who followed him, shoots him in the head. Taken to the hospital, Jean-Yves died four days later.
