Vasily Prozorov is a former lieutenant colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine. In March 2019, during a press conference in Moscow, he stated that from April 2014 until his resignation in 2018, he collaborated with Russia “for ideological reasons.” At the same time, Prozorov made a number of contradictory statements, for example, he accused the Ukrainian authorities of the crash of a Malaysian Boeing near Donetsk in 2014.
The Security Service of Ukraine claimed that they fired Prozorov “for official inconsistency – systematic use of alcohol in the workplace, discrediting the rank of an officer.” The SBU called Prozorov a traitor and his words a lie.
