Kim Min-woong, a former professor at Kyunghee University, who is accused of disclosing the identity of a victim of sexual assault by former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, has been handed over to trial.

According to the legal community on the 5th, the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutor’s Office for Women and Children Crime Investigation Department (Director Jin-wook Son) indicted former professor Kim without detention on the 28th of last month for violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act (observance of confidentiality, etc.).

Former professor Kim is accused of exposing Mr. A’s real name while disclosing a letter written by a sexual assault victim Mr. A to former Mayor Park on his SNS.

The investigation began when the victim filed a complaint with the police, and the police sent Kim to the prosecution in June of last year without detention. After regarding 10 months, the prosecution handed over Kim to trial.

In July 2020, former Mayor Park was accused of sexual assault by force, etc. However, with the death of former Mayor Park, the police closed the case with ‘no right to prosecute’.

The first trial once morest Professor Kim will be held on the 17th of next month.
