The former principal of a secondary school in the United States would have dipped into the school’s budget to use it for personal purposes, including two luxury trips to tropical islands.

“Naia Wilson is accused of abusing her authority and using the school budget as a ‘personal slush fund’ to embezzle tens of thousands of dollars to fund two trips to Barbados for herself and his friends,” Christopher DiMenna, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Boston Division, told the New York Post.

The 60-year-old former principal held the post at New Mission High School in Boston for more than 13 years before getting caught red-handed. She would have “fraudulently endorsed checks in her name and then deposited them in her own bank account”, according to information from the New York Post.

The scheme, which began in 2006 and ended in 2019, reportedly gave him precisely $38,806 (C$51,612).

The American, who pleaded guilty, faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to US$250,000.
