Former Prime Minister has resigned from the North Jutland board

The Aalborg company Carsoe, which among other things produces fish factories for factory trawlers, has lost a familiar face on the board.

It is former Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt who has stepped down from the company’s board at the end of April. This appears from the Central Business Register at virk.dk. The information regarding Thorning-Schmidt’s resignation from the board was published on Wednesday.

She joined the company’s board in 2019, where the then CEO of Carsoe, Mikkel Klitgaard Jacobsen, stated to Finans that “she will open doors for us and provide completely different angles on the company than traditional business people contribute”.

The board position in Carsoe was one of Helle Thornings-Schmidt’s first, following she quit as director of the international Save the Children in 2019.

The current managing director of Carsoe, Hugo Dissing, refuses to comment on Helle Thorning-Schmidt’s departure to both BT and Ekstra Bladet, but tells the latter that the change in the board is completely undramatic.

Carsoe had a large position in the Russian market for turnkey processing plants for factory trawlers, but left Russia completely during 2022 due to the war in Ukraine.

Since then, the company has worked purposefully to spread its activities, and the latest annual report – which covers 15 months due to a change in the financial year to follow the calendar year – shows that, at least until the end of 2022, it has largely succeeded in at least as far as turnover is concerned.

On the other hand, the overall result was negative for the accounting period, Carsoe had to record a loss of DKK 144 million before tax. The accounts for 2023 have not yet been published.
