On the 17th, former President Moon shared research data from the Korea Labor and Society Research Institute published on the 14th on his SNS.

This is the report on ‘Evaluation of the Moon Jae-in administration’s employment and labor policy.’

Former President Moon, who posted this report, said, “During the Moon Jae-in and Democratic Party administration, the employment rate and youth employment rate were at an all-time high, the ratio of non-regular workers and the wage gap were reduced, social insurance subscriptions were expanded, the ratio of low-wage workers and wage inequality were significantly reduced, and long working hours and actual working hours were significantly reduced. “We can see a significant reduction in deaths from industrial accidents and the elimination of blind spots in the employment safety net,” he said.

According to the report, Kim Yu-seon, director of the Korea Labor and Society Research Institute, said, “The Moon administration was a government that placed more emphasis on employment and labor policies than any other government in history,” adding, “Increasing the minimum wage, capping 52 hours a week, converting non-regular workers to regular workers in the public sector, enacting the Serious Accident Punishment Act, etc. “The employment and labor policy pursued by the Moon Jae-in administration, including the ratification of the core conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO), was a long-awaited project of the labor community and was also a core task of the income-led growth policy,” he said.

In this report, the Moon administration’s employment rate broke all-time highs of 60.8% in 2017, 60.9% in 2019, and 62.1% in 2022.

The size of non-regular workers increased by 570,000 (-1.0%p) from 8.43 million (42.4%) in 2017 to 9 million (41.4%) in 2022.

The labor income share ratio increased from 62% in 2017 to 68.7% in 2022.

Regarding the Moon administration’s suspicion of manipulating economic statistics, the President’s Office said on this day, “It is no different from manipulating even the country’s basic policy statistics and deceiving the people, overseas investors, and overseas markets,” and added, “Responsibility must be strictly handled and corrected.”

On the 15th, the Board of Audit and Inspection announced that the Blue House during the Moon Jae-in administration ordered the Korea Real Estate Board and the National Statistical Office, which compile major national statistics such as real estate, household income, and employment, to manipulate statistics.
