Former President Danilo Medina gave his support to the presidential candidacy of Abel Martínez and assured that the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) will win the May 2024 elections.
“We are going to win the elections. I dont have doubts. It is the only party with a structure at the national level,” said the former president, according to a press release sent by the former official party, just at the moment when the candidacy of the current mayor of Santiago de los Caballeros is going through the situation of the resignation of Francisco Javier Garcia As campaign manager and the general secretary of the PLD, he indicated during an interview “that they have had problems” with managing to identify the purple party militants with the figure of Abel.
The press release indicates that Medina highlighted the contributions of this political organization to the progress and development of the country, “conquests that have been thrown overboard in the present administration of the government”.
“There is no political party that has done as much for the Dominican Republic as the PLD, from the time of Trujillo until now, there is not,” said the former head of state, who, according to the press document, led an assembly of peledeista leaderss at the Reinaldo Pared Pérez National House this Friday.
There, Medina invited “the leaders present to double the work, to leave the premises and work with the people in the streets, presenting the proposal for a new peledeista governmentrepresented by Abel Martínez, who with the support of the people, will be the next president of the Republic”.
The assembly with the links of the PLD is the first of three meetings called for the days Friday and Saturday in which the former president promised to participate, which will continue with an assembly with leaders of the three constituencies of the National District in the followingnoon and a third meeting on Saturday with the province of Santo Domingo.
As president of the PLD, Medina led the meeting together with Charles Mariotti, general secretary; Temistocles Montas vice president of the PLD and Rubén BicharaSecretary of Links and Internal Communication and a large representation of the Political Committee.
The call for these meetings was made last Tuesday to guide fundamental aspects of the current phase of the electoral campaign and political work.
The activity began with a loud applause from those present at the entrance of Danilo Medina and the members of the Political Committee, resounding as a slogan the wishes of good health for the former president.
