The renowned former paramilitary Rodrigo Tovar, aka George 40 –who led the Northern Bloc of the AUC–was sentenced to 40 years in prison and a fine of 6,500 minimum wages laws in force for the crimes of aggravated homicide and aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime.
The sentence, imposed by the Fourth Criminal Court of the Specialized Circuit of Bogotá, was given following verifying his responsibility as the author of the murders of the merchant Rubén Dario Quintero Fuentes and his escort Rafael Ovalle Daza.
Alias Jorge 40 was deported from the United States in September 2020 following being imprisoned for 12 years in US territory serving his sentence for drug trafficking.
