It is inevitable to ask yourself what really happened on that Delta flight from Boston to Dublin but landed again in the United States after an hour of takeoff due to an “undisciplined” passenger? According to the report drawn up by the officers who arrested him, in fact the man already seemed drunk by the time he arrived at the airport. Going up on the plane he had argued heavily with another passenger about the seating arrangement before take-off and then when not even an hour of flight had passed he approached an elderly woman, unbuttoned his pants, and urinated on her. As if that wasn’t enough he became enraged and responded violently when the crew members intervened to restrain him before losing consciousness and passing out.

At that point the plane was forced to return to the departure airport where the police officers who boarded, took Cherilus into custody escorting him off the aircraft and subsequently arrested and charged him on charges of interfering with the operation of an aircraft, violent conduct and resisting arrest. The next day Cherilus was then called to appear before Judge Delvecchio in East Boston District Court with the latter, according to the Boston Globe, speaking of “a behavior that was atrocious” referring to the way the defendant behaved on the flight that was supposed to take him from Boston to Dublin.
