The Thetford Assurancia of the North American Hockey League (LNAH) drafted former Montreal Canadiens color holder David Desharnais on Saturday.

Thetford Mines set their sights on Desharnais in the ninth round, with the 58e total choice.

However, the native of Laurier-Station had announced that he was going to retire from professional hockey. He spent the last four seasons of his career with Fribourg-Gottéron, in the Swiss National League, which is the first division championship in this European country.
