Former Minister Karen Abudinen will not be a victim in the process for the scandal of Populated Centers

The 40th criminal judge of Bogotá rejected that the former ICT minister By Karen Abudin was recognized as a victim in the process that is being carried out once morest Juan José Laverde, representative of the company Rave Agencia de Seguros for the Centros Poblados scandal.

During this procedure, the judge, on the other hand, recognized as a victim the ICT MinistryBBVA Insurer, Banco Itaú and the National Guarantee Fund and also denied recognition to the company CES Colombia.

Faced with this decision, both Abudinen and the company appealed, so the hearing was postponed to next year.

The former minister had been rejected as a victim on October 10 by the 59th criminal judge of the Bogotá circuit when the prosecution hearing was held once morest Juan José Laverde, in his capacity as insurance broker, and Ottoman Lascarro Torres, as an alleged owner of the companies Intec de la Costa and Omega Building.

This is because, according to the judge, Abudinen did not prove having been affected in the corruption scandal where more than $70,000 million of the contract signed with the Temporary Union to bring internet to more than 7,000 public schools in the country.

“In use of the duties assigned to her, she had to inform the authorities of the irregularities she was aware of, so the damage materialized on the legal person she represented (the Ministry) and not on herself,” the judge stated.

Due to this corruption scandal, Karen Abudinen had to face a motion of no confidence in the Congress of the republic.
