Former Ligue 2 – Gioacchini not retained by Orlando City

About 15 months following his departure from the Stade Malherbe de Caen, Nicholas Gioacchini needs to revive. The American winger, who returned to the country last July, will once once more change clubs. Left free by the Norman club, the 22-year-old player only played six games with Orlando City during the second half of the season in Major League Soccer. The Florida franchise has therefore chosen not to place Gioacchini on its list of “protected” players. He was therefore able to be recruited by another club during the “Expansion Draft”: Saint-Louis City (Missouri), a brand new team which will make its first steps in MLS in 2023.

Not wishing to stay in Ligue 2 last season, Nicholas Gioacchini was loaned to Montpellier in L1 for a passable record (28 games, two assists). A member of Team USA which won the Gold Cup in 2021, he is not part of the squad by Gregg Berhalter for the 2022 World Cup.
