Former President Moussa Dadis Camara returned to Guinea to answer in court on Wednesday, along with ten other defendants, for his alleged responsibility in the massacre of September 28, 2009 in a stadium in Conakry.
The information was given by his lawyer. Former President Moussa Dadis Camara arrived in Conakry early on Sunday following several years in exile in Burkina Faso.
He is due to appear on Wednesday alongside ten other defendants to answer for the abuses committed on September 28, 2009 when an opposition rally in a stadium in Conakry was brutally repressed. One hundred and fifty-six people had been executed, thousands injured and hundreds of women raped.
« President Moussa Dadis has always asked to return to the country to deliver his part of the truth, assures his lawyer, Me Antoine Pepe Lamah. It was the authorities at the time who did not make things easy for him. Today, thanks to the will of the new political authorities, this trial is finally taking place. This is a good opportunity for him to come and definitively clear his honor which has been sullied by these fallacious accusations for more than twelve years. »
And to those who might consider that an agreement has been made and that Dadis Camara is coming back because he has been protected, his lawyer affirms it forcefully: ” The captain has no deal with anyone. »
