Former Italy and Roma captain Daniele De Rossi begins his coaching career

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Italian club, SPAL, announced, on Tuesday, the appointment of Daniele De Rossi as technical director of the team, with a contract that runs until June 2024, to replace the sacked coach, Roberto Venturato.

De Rossi, captain of the Italian national team and former Roma club, begins his coaching career with SPAL in the Italian second division, which is located in the fourteenth place in the standings with 9 points.

De Rossi retired from football at the age of 36, in January 2020, following playing for a short period of time with Argentine club Boca Juniors.

Daniele spent 18 years with Roma, and participated in 616 games, during which he scored 63 goals and made 54, and won with the team a number of titles, including: the Italian Cup and the Italian Super.

At the international level, De Rossi played 117 matches, scored 21 goals and provided 5 assists, and won the 2006 World Cup, the version that was held in Germany.

The news of Danieli’s appointment as SPAL coach sparked an interaction on Twitter, and the Roma club account wrote: “All the best to our legend De Rossi at the beginning of his coaching career with SPAL.”
