Rudra Pratap Singh (RP Singh), a native of Lucknow and a former Indian bowler, played two ODI matches once morest Australia in 1986. Then he migrated to England in the late 1990s. There he took up the coaching duties of Lancashire County Club and England and Wales Cricket Board.
His elder son Harry has been selected for the England Under-19 team. Harry is currently the batting star of Lancashire. A few days ago, the England Cricket Board called the information that his son Harry was selected for the under-19 team. Singh said.
Many South Asian players, including players of Indian origin, have played for the England junior team. But Singh himself says he is aware of the challenges his son will have to face when trying to move to the top level.
‘It’s not easy, you need some luck and a lot of runs to reach the top level. I have seen many cricketers who did well in domestic cricket in 90s but failed when they represented Indian team. As Harry grows, he will have to make the technical adjustments that every cricketer does’ -RP Singh said.
The 57-year-old Singh’s daughter has also previously played for Lancashire Under-19s. Currently, she is a student of medicine. Harry started playing cricket at the age of eight.
