Former Secretary General of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Nicole Resch has been acquitted in a corruption case. About it informs Nordic Ski.

Proceedings in the Austrian prosecutor’s office lasted more than four years.

“The trial was dismissed after my client proved that the charges against her were false. The prosecutor’s office considered all the accusations unreliable and did not press any charges. The IBU did not ask for the continuation of the proceedings, so it is ultimately closed, ”said lawyer Resh Lukas Kollmann.

The Austrian authorities in 2018 began investigation in relation to Anders Besseberg, then head of the IBU, and Resch in the case of the possible concealment of positive doping tests of Russians, the illegal distribution of media rights and corruption in the selection of Tyumen as the capital of the 2021 World Cup.

Besseberg and Resch then left their positions. The investigation into the Besseberg case is still ongoing.
