On the morning of Sunday, September 22, we learned from the voice of our editor Eladio Muchacho Unda, the unfortunate death of his brother, the former governor of Trujillo, José Jesús Muchacho Bertoni, who occupied the chair of the “Palace of the Elves” in the period from 1975 to 1977 for the Democratic Action party.

Businessman and developer

“Chuchi”, a diminutive of Jesus as he was known by his closest friends and peers since his youth in this Valeran home, was an active man. He inherited the Muchacho family’s concern for business and industry, and from a very young age he stood out for his work, dedication, business vision and clear development goals together with his brothers Ramón, Eladio, Hilarión, Blanca, Consuelo, his cousin Eleazar. With Mrs. Beatriz Jugo de Muchacho he formed a beautiful family, being an exemplary citizen and dedicated to the noble causes of the Valeranidad in his time of business entrepreneurship.

Sports world one of his passions

Like his eldest son Luis Alfonso Muchacho Jugo, and his brother Eladio, “Chuchi” was a furious lover of sports, especially baseball, being a fundamental bastion along with his brother Ramón, Francisco Fernández Galán, Ildemaro Perozo, Ricardo Briceño and Mario Penso, in the formation of the remembered Proletarios de Trujillo team, participant in the former League in the years 80-81 serving as president of the regional team, where among other great baseball players played figures such as Curtis Wallace, Luis Bravo, “Berry” Antonio Lopez, Norman Carrasco, Arturo Sánchez, Ubaldo Heredia, Angel Hernández, Luis Lunar and the then prospect of the Tiburones de La Guaira and later major league Oswaldo Guillen, a team led by Pompeyo Davalillo.

After retiring from politics, he devoted himself to the construction industry, developing important urban development projects with his family (Muchacho Hermanos Construcciones).

In his later years, due to the political and social crisis, “Chuchi” Muchacho took up residence in the United States with his family.

This Sunday the 22nd, in the midst of family tranquility, he gave his soul to the Creator Father.

On behalf of the DLA staff, we send our sincere condolences to the Muchacho-Bertoni, Muchacho-Jugo and Muchacho Unda families. May his soul rest in peace!
