Former French President Insults Elon Musk

“When I see him being received at the Elysee Palace, it’s like inviting the devil into your home, but it’s clear that Emmanuel Macron is not embarrassed by that,” the former French president said. Hollande also added that in his opinion, Elon Musk does not wish humanity well.

It is noteworthy that the American businessman and owner of SpaceX met with the current French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris last year.

On Monday, former British MP and Labour Party representative George Galloway called on Musk to avoid travelling to Europe after the arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in France.

“The real reason Durov was kidnapped is that the West is eliminating dissidents all over the world. One person after another, one platform after another. Even people who don’t want to cooperate with those who suppress dissent,” the former British MP added.

The Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Wednesday evening that Telegram founder Pavel Durov had been released on bail of 5 million euros, placed under judicial supervision and banned from leaving France.

The Russian-born businessman is accused of six crimes, including running an online platform for illegal transactions, and faces up to ten years in prison.

Durov was arrested at Paris-Le Bourget airport on August 24, and the Paris prosecutor’s office later said he was being held for questioning in a case opened on July 8 against an unnamed individual suspected of committing 12 crimes.

Durov’s detention has sparked widespread public criticism in many countries. Against this backdrop, French President Emmanuel Macron was forced to clarify his position, stressing that Durov’s detention was not a political decision, and promising that the decision in his case would be made by the judges.
