“Former Federal Deputy Sues Chamber Pension Fund for Unpaid Bonus”

As revealed by our colleagues from Het Laatste Nieuws, a former federal deputy, who prefers to remain anonymous, has decided to attack the Pension Fund of the Chamber. In question ? He would not have received all of his pension bonus. If the Brussels court of first instance ordered the Chamber, constituted as a non-profit organization, the payment of nearly 80,000 euros, the latter refuses to pay.

The former federal deputy felt aggrieved. Indeed, exceeding the pension ceiling by 20% has existed for MPs since 2014. But, as our colleagues point out, in the Flemish and Walloon Parliament and in the Senate, this rule has existed since 2004.

The jackpot for politicians: if you are an MP, your pension will be three times higher

This former member therefore wants to recover financial compensation for the ten years when he did not have this small financial surplus. He therefore attacked the Pension Fund in 2021. It was then that the Brussels Court of First Instance ordered the payment of 79,649 plus interest, which initially amounted to 100,000 euros.

The Chamber categorically refuses to pay. It will therefore be up to the courts to decide, in September 2023.
