According to Primicias, which cites a police report to which it had access, “the diagnosis of self-induced deep coma caused by the ingestion of anxiolytic, antidepressant and sedative medications is presumed.”
The former official would have been taken from the La Roca maximum security prison, located in Guayaquil, in the province of Guayas, to the Military Hospital in that city.

After the assault on the embassy, which Quito justified by alleging that there was a real risk of Glas’ imminent escape, Mexico broke diplomatic relations with Ecuador.
