The Moscow City Court granted the appeal of the former director of the Chertanovo Academy, Nikolai Larin, and released him from custody. About it informs Match TV.
“Larin was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison instead of three years in prison. And in accordance with Article 73, the punishment is suspended. During this period, it must be noted in the relevant authorities. Today or tomorrow, Larin will be released,” the court’s decision says.
At the hearing, the prosecutor requested a tougher sentence for Larin – up to 4 years and 4 months, the defense challenged the verdict of the first instance.
Pupils of “Chertanovo” paid ₽20 million in the case of the ex-director of the academy
Larin in September 2022 was sentenced to three years with a fine of 20 million rubles. According to investigators, he overestimated the number of players in the academy in order to obtain increased funding. At the trial, Larin stated that he had no selfish motive, he spent the money on a sports boarding school, equipment and organizing trips for athletes abroad.
Graduates of the Chertanovo Academy, playing in the clubs of the Russian Premier League (RPL) and other leagues, later fully paid Larin’s fine.
Larin headed the Chertanovo Academy in 2008-2021.
