Former deputies are hired as advisors to Congress and some earn up to Q26 thousand

Former deputies hired as advisors in the Legislature have salaries of up to Q26 thousand per month.

Ninety-six deputies left their seats last January 14; However, they did not leave Congress, since several were hired as advisors by various blocks and deputies.

They are joined by former parliamentarians from previous periods, as well as former candidates.

Article 38, subsections b and c of the Organic Law of the Legislative Body regulates the hiring of advisors.

In the case of legislative blocks, each one has the right to hire two advisors and one additional advisor for every three deputies, under the proposal of block heads.

While the members of the Board of Directors have the right to hire three advisors, under line 022, while the president of Congress can hire two more.

Former deputies hired

  • Óscar Argueta, former deputy of the National Unity of Hope (UNE) and who was announced to be the head of the advisors of the Vos bloc for this legislative period, is now an advisor to the president of Congress, Nery Ramos, with a contract for Q26 thousand monthly.
  • Amílcar Pop, former representative of Congress and former parliamentarian of the Central American Parliament, was hired as an advisor in the Fifth Secretariat of the Congress of the Republic under the responsibility of Representative Sonia Gutiérrez, with a salary of Q26 thousand.
  • Olga Juárez, former deputy of the UNE, was hired to advise the deputy Damaris Cerna of this same bench for Q22 thousand per month.
  • Aldo Dávila, former representative elected by Winaq, but later sought re-election with Vos. After being left out of the race, he is now an advisor to the Vos bench for Q22 thousand per month.
  • José Alejandro de León Maldonado, former deputy of the Podemos bench. He is now an advisor to deputy Luis Alberto Rodríguez Reyes, for Q22 thousand per month.
  • Douglas Rivero, former deputy of the Humanist bloc, was hired as an advisor by deputy Allan Rodríguez, head of the Vamos bloc, and received a contract of Q18 thousand per month.
  • José Francisco Zamora is a former deputy of the Valor bloc and this bench hired him to advise them for Q18 thousand per month.
