Former Defense Company Employees Detained for Terrorism and Cooperation with Ukrainian Military Intelligence in Kursk and Belgorod Regions, FSB Reports

According to the intelligence service, the detainees were also preparing terrorist attacks in the Kursk and Belgorod regions.

Moscow. June 13th. INTERFAX.RU – Former employees of a defense company have been detained for cooperating with Ukrainian military intelligence and preparing terrorist attacks in the Kursk and Belgorod regions, the FSB reported on Tuesday.

“The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation stopped the illegal activities of former employees of the organization of the military-industrial complex – citizens of the Russian Federation, agents of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR MOU), suspected of transferring to foreign intelligence technical documentation and samples of military products used in the creation of weapons and military equipment used by the Aerospace Forces of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation,” the FSB said.

The detainees are also suspected of “preparing to carry out explosions aimed at damaging transport infrastructure – railway tracks in the Kursk and Belgorod regions used to supply units of the RF Armed Forces participating in a special military operation in Ukraine.”

According to the FSB, a plastic explosive with a total mass of more than four kilograms, four fuses, design documentation and military products, as well as 150,000 US dollars were confiscated from the detainees.

The investigative unit of the security body initiated a criminal case under Art. 275 (high treason), part 1 of Art. 30, paragraph “a” part 2 of Art. 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (preparation for sabotage). Under these articles, the suspects face punishment up to life imprisonment.

“The suspects have been taken into custody and are making confessions,” the FSB said.
