Former Daft Punk Thomas Bangalter announces solo album

“Mythologies” will include 23 pieces composed by Thomas Bangalter for the eponymous ballet by French choreographer Angelin Preljocaj. In 2021, the choreographer called on the former Daft Punk to write the music for his ballet, in order to mark the culmination of his collaboration with the Opéra national de Bordeaux. “Mythologies” was then performed on stage by ten dancers from the national institution’s ballet company.

With “Mythologies”, the former member of Daft Punk tries to reinvent his way of composing. According to the announcement’s press release, the artist does not “draw upon the resources of electronic music, but speaks to the traditional power of a symphony and, as such, embraces the music history of orchestral ballet in a gesture that is both personal and collaborative”.

In 2018, Bangalter contributed to the soundtrack of the film “Climax” by Gaspar Noé. In February 2021, Daft Punk, of which he was a member, announced their separation, following 28 years of existence. Nevertheless, the two sidekicks have since released a reissue of their debut album “Homework,” as well as the storyboard for their iconic “Around the World” music video.
