Forward Alex Galchenyuk, whose contract was recently terminated by the Arizona Coyotes, allegedly made violent threats to Scottsdale police officers in an incident last week.
This is revealed the police report obtained by the media 12 news in Arizona.
According to the allegations, Galchenyuk threatened a police officer who was intervening in a hit-and-run situation with cutting him (“chop”) and cutting out the kidneys of his family members.
“I will end your lineage. One call and you’re dead,” Galchenyuk reportedly warned police.
Galchenyuk’s father was at the scene and, according to the report, he told officers he had never seen his son act so aggressively.
The former Montreal Canadiens striker would also have launched a racial insult to an African-American police officer, according to the testimony of one of the members of the police force.
Galchenyuk signed with the Coyotes on July 1 on the terms of a one-year, $775,000 contract as an unrestricted free agent.
Two weeks later, the Coyotes put him on waivers in an effort to terminate his contract, without providing an explanation.
Sports site The Athletic then learned that the third overall pick in the 2012 draft was arrested by the Scottsdale Police Department on Sunday, July 9. He was released the next day.
Galchenyuk faces charges of hit and run, disorderly conduct, failure to obey, resisting arrest, threatening and intimidation.
