Former Colombian Soccer Star Murdered: Shocking News Rocks Atlantic Community

An act of violence against a former Colombian professional soccer figure keeps the Atlantic community shocked, after Germán Pérez Albuquerque was murdered.

Germán was a former professional player who was a member of the Atlántico team and the defunct Sporting Club de Barranquilla, a team that starred in the old and renowned Barranquilla derby against Junior.

Pérez was part of the staff of these clubs in the 1980s, now he dedicated himself to a simple life in the municipality of Malambo, where he lived his days away from the sporting scene.

Pérez was part of the Atlántico team and the defunct Sporting Club de Barranquilla in the 80s.

He lived in the Villa Esther neighborhood with his family, and worked providing transportation services in a motorcycle.

According to preliminary versions, the former player was traveling in his vehicle when he was suddenly approached by two men, who shot him to death.

After the attack, Pérez Albuquerque would have been quickly helped by the community, who took him to a care center in the municipality of Malambo, where minutes later he lost his life.

‘Moto Moto’, as his neighbors and close friends called him, was known for having played for two of the most important clubs in the Atlántico department, he even rubbed shoulders with professional soccer legends such as Wilson Pérez, William Gónzalez and Álex Randa.
