Former Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid was disqualified from the party presidency for life. Former Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan will not even be able to contest the elections.

The Election Commission has announced the decision of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Gilgit-Baltistan party chairmanship.

According to judicial sources, the decision was given under Article 62 and 63, the oral decision was given by the Chief Election Commissioner, Raja Shehbaz, the Chief Election Commissioner of Gilgit-Baltistan said that the detailed decision will be issued after 2 days.

The Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court has already disqualified former Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid in the fake degree case.

People’s Party member Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Ghulam Shahzad Agha challenged Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan’s law degree and demanded his disqualification under Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution of Pakistan.

The petitioner, through his counsel Amjad Hussain, had taken the stand that the degree submitted by the Chief Minister was not verified by the University of London and was declared fake by the Higher Education Commission.

The Higher Education Commission had told the court that it had withdrawn the LLB degree issued to Khalid Khurshid after the University of London declared the chief minister’s degree fake.
