The Constitutional Court (MK) will read out the decision on the dispute over the results of the 2024 presidential election (PHPU), tomorrow (22/4). Former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) who is also an Expert in Constitutional Law at the University of Indonesia, Jimly Asshiddiqie, appealed to all parties to accept and respect whatever the decision is. Jimly believes that the constitutional judges will be fair in handing down their decisions.

“Whatever the substance of the Constitutional Court’s decision, let us all accept it as it is, because everything has been heard and then we will entrust it to the judges who know what law and justice is most appropriate to decide,” said Jimly when contacted, Sunday (21/4).

As a democratic nation, society must respect court decisions. Because there is no need for commotion in responding to the Constitutional Court’s decision regarding the presidential election (pilpres) dispute later.

“In building a democratic rule of law, we must build a tradition of respecting court decisions as they are as true truth and justice for all,” said Jimly.

As reported, the eight panel of constitutional judges led by Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Suhartoyo heard the 2024 PHPU case from March 27 to April 5 2024. The 2024 presidential election PHPU dispute was filed by Presidential Candidate Pair and Vice Presidential Candidate Number 1 Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar as well as candidate pair number 3 Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.

Both of them argued that in the 2024 presidential election which was won by Candidate Candidate Number 2 Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, there had been structured, systematic and massive election fraud. The petitioners asked the Constitutional Court to cancel the victory of Candidate Pair 02 as determined by the General Election Commission (KPU).
