Convicted of murder, Patricia Krenwinkel, a former supporter of cult leader Charles Manson, remains in prison following more than 50 years. California Gov. Gavin Newsom refused to release the 74-year-old, according to prison officials. Krenwinkel continues to represent an “unreasonable danger” for society, the quoted Los Angeles Times on Friday (local time) from the justification of the democratic politician.
A parole board in California first recommended Krenwinkel’s release last May. Krenwinkel, in prison since 1969, had asked for clemency for the 15th time. The governor must review such requests and may block a release.
Seven Murders
In 1969, members of the “Manson Family” murdered a total of seven people on behalf of cult leader Charles Manson. The most spectacular act was the killing of the heavily pregnant actress and wife of director Roman Polanski, Sharon Tate.
