Former captain of La Selecta is investigated for sexual assault

Norberto “Pájaro” Huezo, World Cup player and captain in Spain 1982, is being investigated by the National Civil Police and we tell on CANCHA part of his professional career

norbert “Bird” Bone is closely followed by the authorities of the National Civil Police, who reported the arrest of the former soccer player and coach this Saturday afternoon.

José Norberto “Pájaro” Huezo Montoya was a soccer player prominent with a career in various professional teams, and of course, in the National Team. A hook or link midfielder of which there are no more in modern football.

His career in the king of sports began in the team of the University of El Salvador at the beginning of the seventies together with figures such as Carlos “Cali” Cañadas, “Will” Peñate, “Quino” Valencia, “Indio” Vásquez, Elmer Acevedo, the Argentines Víctor Donato and Walter Tombini among others.

Later he went through ANTEL where he shared with a young “Mágico” González; there the “Bird” stayed for two seasons before playing in the very Monterrey of Mexico.

With the “Rayados” he teamed up with the Mexicans Javier Regalado, Luis Montoya and Francisco Javier Solís. Huezo was part of the contingent of foreigners such as the Argentine Trinidad Cavallero, the Chilean Nelson Sanhueza or the Uruguayan Rubén Corbo.

Later, Huezo returned to El Salvador to shine in a longer period with Marte, a team with which he was champion of the Major League in the 80/81 campaign after winning a double game against Santiagueño.

After being captain of the Selecta in the FIFA World Cup in Spain 82, the Salvadoran signed for Palencia and later played with Cartagena, the team to which the selected Enrico Dueñas currently belongs.

“Pájaro” Huezo also played for Herediano in Costa Rica, where he was champion of the first division in the 87/88 campaign. In the Florense group he coincided with characters like Claudio Jara, Floyd Guthrie, Germán Chavarría, Marvin Obando and the Uruguayan Mario Orta.

At the end of the eighties, the cuscatleco played with Jalapa and Escuintla of professional soccer in Guatemala.

For the 91/92 season, Huezo performed his “last dance” in Salvadoran soccer and no longer played abroad. He played for Cojutepeque and retired after two seasons at FAS.

“Bird” ended his career with a pair of personalities such as “Fito” Menendez, William Osorio, Gabriel Perrone (Argentine), Jorge “Shoemaker” Abrego, Hugo Franco (Paraguayan), Jaime Cubias, “Memo” Rivera, Erber Burgos, Jorge “Zarco” Rodriguez, “Magic” Gonzalez, Ricardo Troche (Paraguayan), Edemilson (Brazilian) among others.

As a coach, he directed the U-20 National Team from 2006 to 2011. He was in charge of prosecuting players such as Herbert Sosa, Jaime Alas, Andrés Flores, Fabricio Alfaro, Óscar Arroyo among many others in professional soccer.

Currently, Norberto “Pájaro” Huezo was dedicated to being a commentator for a soccer program on open television.
