Former Brazilian coach Tite said this Tuesday that his goal as Flamengo’s new coach is to make the popular Rio de Janeiro club, which had a disappointing season, better than other teams and “deserve success.”

“Our goal is to be better than others. Or to be better than ourselves, perhaps it is (a phrase) more appropriate,” said the new technical director of the red and black in a video released by the Brazilian team.
Commander of the ‘Seleção’ in the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, in which they fell in the quarterfinals, Adenor Leonardo Bachi, better known as Tite, appeared this Tuesday at the ‘Fla’ training headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.
The 62-year-old coach was announced the day before as a replacement for Argentine Jorge Sampaoli, who left office on September 28 due to poor results.
“It is an honor (to be the new coach), an enormous responsibility and a professional challenge. The structure of the club allows you all the quality of work possible, at a high level, as Flamengo demands. I hope we can do this work together,” he stated.
Winner of all the titles within the reach of a Brazilian club, from state tournaments to the Club World Cup, Tite will have the challenge of making the stormy 2023 season forgotten in his first experience in charge of the most popular squad in Brazil.
The ‘Mengão’, owner of one of the most powerful rosters in America, expected to gorge on trophies this year, but he came away blank in the six competitions he has already played in, including the Copa Libertadores and the ‘Mundialito’.
It seems unlikely that they will win the Brasileirao, the only competition in which they are still alive, since they are in fifth place, with 44 points, eleven points behind the leader Botafogo with 12 days left in the tournament.
His goal is to get a ticket for the next Libertadores as the third coach of ‘Fla’ in 2023, following Sampaoli and the Portuguese Vítor Pereira, fired in April.
At the moment it is classified for the stages prior to the group stage. Tite’s Flamengo will debut by visiting Cruzeiro de Belo Horizonte on October 19, for matchday 27 of the Brazilian league.
“I hope to have Tite’s ability as a professional, but first Adenor’s as a person, to be able to represent them,” the coach said in a message to the ‘twisted’ team.
“Also dignity, strength, work, so that we deserve success,” he added.
