Former Bolivian President Jeanine Áñez sentenced to 10 years in prison

Áñez tried by all means to suspend the hearings, especially due to alleged health problems. She went on hunger strikes, she broke down, was taken to hospital and later she claimed that she was suffering from stress, back pain and panic attacks.

Along with his lawyers, he also insisted that the trial was illegal and only responded to a “revenge” of the current government. In her statements, she proclaimed her innocence, she apologized “for the mistakes made” and assured that she became president to “pacify the country.” In addition, she defined herself as a “political prisoner.”
