While on holiday in Croatia, Edwin van der Sar suffered a brain haemorrhage and had to be airlifted to a hospital by helicopter. Ajax, a team in which he was a player and later as a manager, referred to the situation of the 52-year-old former soccer player.

“On Friday, Edwin van der Sar has had a hemorrhage around his brain. He is currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in stable condition. Once there is more concrete information, an update will follow. Everyone at the Ajax wish Edwin a speedy recovery. We are thinking of you,” Ajax said.

It should be remembered that the Manchester United legend played for Ajax between 1990 and 1999. After announcing his retirement, in 2016, he held the position of general manager at the Dutch team. Van der Sar, who is the second most capped player for the Dutch national team and who has played in three World Cups, also played for Fulham and Juventus.
