We spoke with Priscila Ciscar, director of Pure Welfare regarding this and other projects in which they are immersed.
“Formentera Zen is the best and most complete Spanish wellness event at a holistic level. We have applied our concept of Pure Well-being 360 degrees, designing a program with a great diversity of disciplines around well-being, in different formats: talks, workshops, masterclass, etc. From Yoga to Mindfulness, nutrition, fitness, dance, postural hygiene, self-care, personal growth… Hand in hand with top-level experts, whose experience and training endorse them, achieving great media coverage”.
And he continues: “It is an event promoted by the Formentera Island Council and organized in an integral way by us. The objective is, obviously, to raise awareness of the importance of the well-being of society, to position the island as a destination for well-being and to promote seasonality, something that we are achieving, since every year we have more attendees. We have attendees who come from different geographical points in Spain: Galicia, Malaga, Seville, Madrid, even from abroad, which shows that it is a demanded product, that it works and has a future”, he concludes.

As we speak, Priscila is at the Prevencia 2023 congress, regarding to give a presentation. We asked him regarding her speech.
We are at the Ibero-American Occupational Risk Prevention Congress, promoted by the Ibero-American Social Security Organization, under the auspices of the Xunta de Galicia and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We met this year in Santiago de Compostela and we have talked regarding 360 labor well-being, because we believe that it is a right to have a healthy and healthy work environment, this is a fundamental right of people. And it is our duty to try to offer joint and coordinated responses to protect it.
As an expert in the world of wellness, why is it so important to everyone?
Well-being is feeling well. It is a vital state and can include up to seven different dimensions: physical, emotional, professional, social, intellectual, spiritual and environmental. Each dimension contributes to our own sense of well-being or quality of life, taking into account, of course, the situation and circumstances of each one, which obviously affects everything else.

The world of wellness has been talked regarding for a long time, but is there really concern for employees in companies in this regard?
Absolutely yes. Companies increasingly show their interest in the well-being of their employees. It has been shown that a worker who is comfortable in his company feels more committed, more involved with it, increases team motivation, is more responsible, performs more and better and causes fewer casualties, which improves the climate employment, the image of the company and the results and productivity are satisfactory.
Is it too expensive for companies?
Well-being is priceless. It is a bet, an investment.

Perhaps we care a lot regarding the body, but not regarding the mind?
Every time less. Because I think one thing leads to another. A sound mind in a sound body as the Roman author Decimo Junio Juvenal already said. There are factors such as rest, a good diet, meditation, sports, where the body and mind are closely related, and the benefits are felt both physically and mentally. And that balance makes you feel good. There is a perfect synchronization between the two.
You advise companies and workers on the solutions offered by this wellness world. You, who are like a thermometer in this sense, how are we compared to other countries?
We still have a lot to do. Spain shows weaknesses in this aspect, although we are evolving positively. It is true that we do not have the model of the Nordic countries, for example, but little by little, there is more interest in this subject, more resources, more desire and more need. Companies realize that it is no longer an option, but almost an obligation.
It should even be a subject in school…
Should be. From my point of view, we would have a long way to go if a subject were already implemented in schools where they received information and tools to know how to take care of mind, body and emotion, as well as at home, which in the end is where education starts. Although many centers are already starting out in emotional intelligence, Mindfulness, Yoga… But hey, there is still a lot to do.

What are the benefits of wellness?
They are many. Feeling well, strengthening self-esteem, having more security and self-confidence and knowing how to transmit it, living better with a state of mind and a healthy lifestyle that allows you to be more positive, happier, happier and seek or find that happiness and infect your people. Now there is a lot of talk regarding the concept ‘vitamin person’ and that’s how it is.
What are the pillars to reach those 360 degrees?
The crux of the matter is to achieve balance: taking care of the mind, taking care of the body and, in a differential value, the environment. Through those themes that we commented on, such as the order of organization, the emotional state, Yoga, nutrition, that is, a comprehensive 360.
How many people work at Puro Bienestar?
We are a great team of 12 people. Together we make a big family. It’s like working with friends and each one of us has a role.
You also have external
External that obviously depend on the event or initiative, depending on the client. There we make an exhaustive selection, and we look for the profile that can best fit into the action.
How long has Puro Bienestar been in operation?
Puro Bienestar began its journey in 2018. It is a business idea that I am also truly passionate regarding, I love it, and I enjoy it every day. We began little by little by analyzing the market, seeing the differential values that should characterize our services, and we gradually shaped and marketed them. After these years I feel tremendously lucky. In addition, I am lucky to have, as I mentioned before, a great team that allows me to interact with very interesting people who always enrich me personally and professionally.
And what did you do before starting Puro Bienestar?
I studied Tourism, I have a couple of master’s degrees and for almost 20 years I was in the public relations department of a large multinational. When they offered me to lead this project I decided to bet on it.
We came up with the idea during a lunch, in which we talked regarding occupational well-being, occupational risks, prevention, etc. So I said that it would be wonderful to take it to the field of people, to town halls, offer face-to-face events to organizations and companies… They told me it was a good idea, and we went for it.
What do companies demand the most?
If we talk regarding large organizations, we are now implementing a very powerful audiovisual program for occupational well-being, which is having great success. Since the pandemic, the digital issue is very latent in organizations.
On the other hand, for town halls, governments, institutions and others, we have face-to-face events in cities that attract a lot of attention. During a day or a weekend, depending on the municipality and depending on resources. These events favor greater tourism, greater attendance, greater influx of people, greater visibility for the city, because our events have a huge media impact.
How are these digital audiovisual courses?
They are digital pills in which we offer various formats: pills, micro pills, podcasts, gamification, etc. Through the intranet system of each company, we implement these chosen formats in the topics of interest: sleep, postural hygiene, etc., and we reinforce it with an event or face-to-face training, for as long as the company considers.
In which cities will you be in the coming months?
We are closing agreements with Madrid, Barcelona, and Lanzarote. The events that we carry out are boutique, that is to say, taking care of the details to the maximum, attending to each and every one of the attendees accordingly and obtaining maximum results, and that people feel comfortable. It is not the typical congress with a thousand people or impersonal.
Nutrition is also included in your wellness proposals.
Of course, of course, food is the basis. And also, one thing leads to another, exercise, diet, sleep well, feel good, it’s all chained.
Do women do less sport or is this changing now?
96% of those attending our events are female audiences. It really catches my attention because normally in the gym it’s the opposite. You see more men than women. On the other hand, at events the influx of female audiences is greater than that of male ones.
Why would you say this happens? Why do we seek a complete balance of everything?
We are more comprehensive. We are more disciplined in that sense. They play sports, but then they have four glasses of wine and a wonderful dinner. We deprive ourselves more in every way, we are more of order.
For example, if we talk regarding Yoga, we work with talent, we have teachers like Xuan Lan, Verónica Blume, Alexandra Ora… But if we are looking for men, there are very few and most of them foreigners: from Australia, Canada, the United States… .
