Asuncion, IP Agency.- Forestry sector exports, which reached their best figures in July, represented more than 53,437,609 dollars in foreign currency in the first seven months of the year, according to a report by the National Forestry Institute. The products, which include charcoal, plywood and eucalyptus planks, reached 34 countries last month.
According to the report, July was the best month in terms of export figures, reaching more than 9,250,000 dollars. In the previous months, average export values remained close to 8 million dollars, except in January when the figure was lower.
The main export product of the sector is charcoal, which in July accounted for 60% of the values obtained. That month, 15,388 tons of this product were shipped and its main destination was the United Kingdom, followed by Brazil and the United States.
Another important product in this sector is plywood, which in July was exported for a value of almost 2 million dollars, with its main destinations being the United States and Uruguay.
As for sawn wood, made up of 100% eucalyptus boards and planks, its main destination is Israel, followed by the United States, Uruguay and Brazil.
