Tegucigalpa – In the last 24 hours, the Fire Department has dealt with four forest fires in the surroundings of the capital Tegucigalpa, of which the one in the El Zamorano sector is still active.

– Fire in the El Zamorano sector, is of large proportions and has been active for more than 60 hours.

The fire in the El Zamorano sector has been active for more than 60 hours, “it is a fire of large proportions, it is active and it spreads into the mountains,” said Lieutenant Matta of the Fire Department.

He noted that the Fire Department, ICF, Armed Forces, C-9 and Copeco are facing a forest fire in Zamorano, Francisco Morazán, and what is worrying is still active because in each fire the consumption of water increases, and it has been announced drought.

“There are thousands of gallons of water that we have used to put out these forest fires” and the water is taken from different sources, he noted.

The Fire Department reiterates to the population to take preventive measures not to throw flammable objects or cigarette butts on the banks of the roads because with the high temperatures they are triggers for forest fires, as well as other causes, particularly those caused on purpose by arsonists and the bad practices in agriculture.
