At a press briefing in Sept-Îles, Prime Minister François Legault indicated that planes had been mobilized to fight the flames. Protecting Hydro-Québec facilities is a priority.
Traffic is also disrupted on Route 389, in particular with checkpoints that only allow permanent residents, workers and deliveries of essential goods to pass.
The sector is constantly monitored by SOPFEU.
“We have certain sectors where we are more vigilant. First, human life. Second, strategic infrastructure, so the part of the 389 is one of the places where we can do work. It is a place where land work is also done. There is also aerial work which is done according to the fumes that we are going to have, ”explains the spokesperson for SOPFEU, Isabelle Gariépy.
