A forest fire in Fendels in Tyrol (Landeck district) on Saturday followingnoon required a large-scale deployment of 80 firefighters with a total of 15 vehicles from six communities as well as the Ried im Oberinntal mountain rescue service, three fire-fighting helicopters and three police patrols. The fire was below a gondola, there were no people in the gondolas. At 9.30 p.m. the firefighting had to be stopped and continued on Sunday morning.
According to information from the Tyrolean State Police Headquarters, an area of around 1.5 hectares was affected by the fire on Sunday morning. No persons were injured. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
