New Delhi ∙ After the UGC last week announced the criteria for foreign universities to open campuses in India, many institutions have expressed their interest. It is reported that Italy’s famous art-design institution Instituto Marangoni has held preliminary talks with UGC.
Cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Gurugram are being considered for starting the campus. This institution is among the top 100 art and design institutes in the world.
Institutions like Flinders University, Griffith University, James Cook University and University of Canberra in Australia have also expressed their willingness to start the campus. These institutes are considering cities like Greater Noida, Delhi and Mumbai for their campus.
Instituto Marangoni currently has campuses in cities such as Milan, Paris, London and Shanghai. Although there is a vocational training center in Mumbai, there is only a certificate course. It is reported that 6 institutions have signed MoUs to set up campuses in collaboration with institutions in India. The vice chancellors of these institutions are likely to visit India in the coming months. The official application process will start following this.
Meanwhile, the admission process has started at Deakin University, which is starting up in Gift City, Gujarat. Western Sydney University, ranked 375th in the international ranking, has announced that it will start its campus in Bengaluru in 2025.
