Foreign Ministry calls the creation of a “new Lima Group and a new Guaidó” “unacceptable”

On Friday, August 23, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry took a firm position rejecting interventionism and denounced the construction of a new “Lima Group” after learning the content of a statement in which 11 countries participated against the sentence issued by the Supreme Court of Justice, in which the victory of Nicolás Maduro as president-elect of Venezuela was ratified, as well as demanding respect for the sovereignty and independence of the Nation.

Foreign Minister Yván Gil described this new group and “a new Guaidó” as unacceptable, adding that it is an act of interference, in which they become complicit in the national violence and deaths caused by “criminal groups” by the Venezuelan extremist opposition since July 29.

In a brief intervention on VTV, Yván Gil read a statement where he highlighted:

“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects, in the strongest terms, the rude and insolent statement from the governments of Argentina, Costa Rica, Chile, Ecuador, the United States, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay, who, emulating the disastrous, failed and defeated Lima Group, intend to continue violating International Law by committing an unacceptable act of interference in
issues that only concern Venezuelans,” he said.

He added that “just as the people of Simon Bolivar and Hugo Chavez crushed the attacks of the deceased Lima Group and its attempt to impose a puppet government in the past through the failed adventure of Juan Guaidó, on this occasion they will crush each and every one of the actions that they try to initiate through their failed governments against the Venezuelan people.”
