According to the South Korean foreign ministry, Foreign Minister Park Jin and Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi pointed out that the successive launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) and a short-range ballistic missile in a telephone conversation that evening was in clear violation of a number of UN Security Council resolutions. It also pointed out that North Korea’s actions are serious provocations that threaten peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and internationally, and strongly condemned it.
The foreign ministers of South Korea and Japan decided to continue close communication while closely monitoring North Korea’s trends and to strengthen cooperation between the United States and Japan to respond to North Korea’s nuclear and missile threats.
He also urged North Korea to immediately stop further provocations and return to the path of dialogue.
The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said that the two Ministers shared serious concerns regarding North Korea’s nuclear and missile activities, including the launch of ballistic missiles, and reaffirmed the common perception that these activities threaten the peace and stability of Japan, the region and the international community. . He also emphasized that, in recognition of this, South Korea, Japan, and South Korea and the United States had agreed to continue close cooperation for the complete denuclearization of North Korea in accordance with the UN Security Council.
In addition, the two Ministers agreed to proceed with consultations between diplomatic authorities with a greater sense of speed in the future to resolve various issues between the two countries.
In this regard, it is reported that South Korea and Japan are coordinating Minister Park’s visit to Japan next month. Earlier, the Yomiuri Shimbun reported that Minister Park will visit Japan next month for the first time since taking office and meet with Foreign Minister Hayashi.
